Just one more reminder to get out and vote Tuesday.  Support your candidates or at least vote against the persons you DON'T want to win!  It can be discouraging when you hear about voter fraud and long lines at the polls, but remember that many people gave their lives so we can have a voice in electing our leaders.

A few years back my wife and I stayed at "The Balsams" in Dixville Notch, NH.  It's WAAAY up there, even parts of Canada are south!  It's famous for being the first place in the USA to cast ballots on eelction day.  They open at midnight on election day.  "The Ballot Room" drips with history; its walls covered with pics of leaders and dignitaries who've visited (shilled? campaigned?) there.  Now I always think of that place when it's time to vote.

VOTE!  It's your civic duty!  It'll make you feel good.

A reminder to those who will vote is a waste of time.

A reminder to those that won't vote is a waste of time.

Ergo, this thread is a waste of time.

Well, consider yourself as one of the people who will not be counted then.

Of course, I am also aware many people have access to this forum from other countries and some people don't meet the age requirement to vote.  If you are one of these people, then I apologize.

Oh my god! I need to vote! Is it too late? Where should I go? For whom should I vote?! Panic!!!

PS: j/k. I'm German. I'm rather amused by the voting antics in the US.

on Nov 04, 2008

Oh, you're German?

Well no wonder...

(Note: I'm not serious.)

No... Don't bother voting, just give up with this silly idea of electing your own leaders and the British will take over again.

Your all be much happier when you don't have to worry. We will dispatch a new viceroy as soon as you agree to capitulate.

We've got over a 100 million voters, which leaves plenty of room for people who game too much and might have forgotten it's Tuesday, much less *this* Tuesday. I'm Floridian (native), and I vote consistently in local elections also, so I am *painfully* aware of what a difference just a few votes can make.

One of the things that really amazes many Europeans about our voting is just how much of it we do. Everyone's historically worked up about the presidency, but we're looking at a possibly amazing change in Congress, many of our state legislatures could get a shakeup if the coattail effect is very strong, and we have an army of state and local ballot initiatives.

The whole election is a sham.   And even if it wasn't, it really doesn't matter which candidate gets in.  I'm boycotting.

the british take over again.

In IL, i vote 4 or maybe 5 times. its what we do up here.

I'm waiting for the war against China.

Just remember not to complain about anything government does or doesn't do. No votey, no gripey.

Would it be so bad? No just pay your taxes and don't worry about representation. It only leads to arguments anyway.

Except Utah. We don't really fancy that one.

Obama's won Dixieville Notch with over 70% of the vote.  Admittedly there were only 21 people voting, but stil...

Absolutely I'm going to gripe.  I'm going to gripe that they rigged the elections, and subcontracted the tallying process to foreign companies.

If I could ask someone on the inside.

I'm thinking about placing a bet on how many of the following states McCain will win.

George Bush won each of these 'Six-Pack' states in 2004. How many can McCain hold onto? (Six-Pack states = Colorado,Florida,Nevada,North Carolina,Ohio,Virginia)

I tempted to bet either 1 or 2. Leaning toward one (Virginia) but not sure about Florida?

Not much of a choice

1) a socilist at best, or a communist at worst

2) a Bush clone

The lesser of two evils is still evil.  This country is in deep poo the next 4 years no matter who wins.

Do you people really believe half the things you post when it comes to this thread, or are you just joking around? Rigged elections, wars with china, obama being a socialist? I mean seriously turn off the Fox News and pick up a paper...
